It was cosplayers galore at the recent STGCC 2011, but the one who attracted the most attention would have to be the guest-of-honor and one of the cosplay judges, Kipi!
I wasn't aware of Kipi's existence until STGCC 2011, and would not have recognised her from the pictures on her blog as she looked rather different in real life. So petite and so much of a waif. She was always smiling and acting a little shy, you would have thought she was a 16 year-old just starting out, instead of a professional.
I was amused by the numerous middle-aged photographers with their big-ass cameras, scrambling to get a shot of her and with her, and thereafter, boasting about it excitedly to their peers.
This, by the way, was my favourite. I'm no anime crazy fan, so I'm clueless as to who she is cosplaying. Would appreciate it very much if I could be clued in :) She was just one of a few who, to my amusement, went to random spots and plonked herself on the ground and attracted a circle of photographers thus.
Random groups.
Character from Dragon Nest.
Pyramid Head! My favourite character from Silent Hill! And I dunno who ~.~"
Most of the cosplayers were gathered at the atrium outside the exhibition hall.
Finally one I know! Characters from Durarara.
Last but not least, a rather interesting fight sequence as requested by a photographer.
I wish I knew who they were cosplaying! Writing a blog post like this annoys me to no end. Oh well.

Shills Cherry Blossoms BB Mineral Powder
I was contemplating getting the Anna Sui Loose Powder, but noticed that it tends to get messy during use. It was around then I came across the Shills Cherry Blossoms BB Mineral Powder. The black shiny container it comes in is reminiscent of Anna Sui's packaging, and the dark pink contrasting puff made it stand out. What was even better was that it had an spf of 30PA++!
The container holds 20g of powder in a darker shade of brown compared to most loose powders, and although it claims to be satin-like, I found it more matte than silky.
The puff, though rather thick, wasn't as well-made as I had thought. Not in the it's-going-to-fall-apart sense of the word, but the workmanship was a little shoddy. The powder has very fine shimmer bits which are so sparse, they hardly show up on the skin. I like the fact that is smells faintly like rose syrup :)
The spf comes from the titanium dioxide. It also contains several moisturising and soothing ingredients such as sodium hyaluronate, shea butter, avocado oil and rose oil.

STGCC, Singapore Toy Game Comic Convention 2011
This is our second time to STGCC and the first time paying $10 for a one-day ticket each. The ticket allows for multiple re-entries with this chop, so no cheating by passing the ticket to a friend. Tsk!
Some of my favourite displays:
* Classic Predator
* Tracker Predator with Hound
Basically I liked ALL the predator figurines, but they were kept in glass cabinets and the iphone camera has its limitations. Reflections are one of them. Not to mention the fact that I kept capturing people's faces on the other side of the display, in my shots.
I don't like Iron man but I thought that it was an interesting pose. He seems to be resting in the cradle of the moon.
Flipping through the work of Marvel artist, Mico Suayan.
The Tokidoki autograph session with Simone Legno was so popular, it had to be extended beyond the scheduled hour. That was also partly due to the fact that he was too nice! He actually drew on each and every blank Mickey Mouse figurine that his fans brought to him.
This is what he drew on the boy's Kaiten skate deck :)
The above-mentioned Mickey Mouse figurines and the various designs showcased.
There was also introductory lessons on anime playing cards, a craze the boy couldn't comprehend. Why would males play with sissy looking cards he asked? Urm, because it features boobs and upskirts?, I replied.
As I was standing at the booth, this young boy bought packet after packet of cards and tore it open on the spot. Each packet contains about 8 cards and costs $6-9.
His stack of cards.
For a minimum of $5, you could shoot these Star Wars characters with a rubber bullet, and the money would be donated to charity.
His befitting expression just makes me smile.
There were many cosplayers at the event too, not surprising since they had a chance of getting featured in Cosmode. There were a couple of good ones but many were just terrible with their tired and dull faces void of any makeup whatsoever. Where's the effort? Will do a separate post on them soon.

Estencia 7 Day Happy Palette
The first thing I noticed about the Estencia 7-day Happy Palette, was that it looked like a box a chocolates or candy. That very fact alone makes me happy, though it is neither.
It is an intensive hydrating essence which you use over the course of 7 days, and comes in 7 butter pat-like blister packs of 2ml each. The clear liquid has the texture of a serum and absorbs very quickly into the skin.
One blister is way too much for the face alone, and so it is suggested that you use the balance on your neck and chest area, and even your hands as well. I find that after massaging it generously into my face, I still have enough left over to cover my entire arm!
The main ingredients in the serum are hyaluronic acid which attracts and binds water, sodium hyaluronate which does the same but is better able to penetrate the skin, and platinum to restore the skin's ionic balance.

Terracotta Warriors @ The Asian Civilisations Museum
Although it is stated that the exhibition features a hundred artefacts from Shaanxi province in China, including important bronzes and jades from the Qin state, it was confined to a room and felt very small. In addition, most of the terracotta on exhibit were merely replicas. Nevertheless, a lot of knowledge can be gained if following the guide on one of the scheduled tours.
My favourite was this replica of the life-sized chariot found on the West side of the Emperor's tomb mound, probably similar to the one he used on his inspection tours. The original piece being too fragile, never left China.
General of the Qin dynasty, identified by the distinctive headdress and tassels on the upper chest.
Closeup of the limestone armour. It was probably merely symbolic and not actually used in battle, due to the weight and fragility of limestone.
One of a set of three bronze bells excavated at Baoji, and most probably commissioned by Duke Wu of Qin. The inscription on the bell states that the Dukes of Qin had been given the heavenly mandate to rule.
Although the exhibit was small, we had a lot of fun with the accompanying iphone app featuring Augmented Reality experiences and mini-games.
You can watch the movie clip of the boy striking the AR bell here.
3D invincible archers marching and shooting arrows with their crossbows.
I've tried to capture the arrow in mid air (see 2 of them at the extreme right?)
The one below was my favourite! The effect of the soldier crawling out of the cave the was just so real.
Special Exhibition
