Steamed Cakes from Mushiya Steamers, Ion

These Japanese steamed cakes were going for just $1 at closing time, and they looked so cute and irresistable that I persuaded the boy to get a couple of them. Surprisingly, despite the many interesting flavours like strawberry milk, yuzu, sakura and sweet potato, they did not taste as good as our traditonal huat kuay, eaten with dessicated coconut and sugar. These were denser instead of being fluffy yet springy, and despite the color of the cakes, tasted plain. If you'd like to try one, I'd recommend the ichigo milk flavour.
