The Elephant Parade has come to Singapore, with over 160 life-sized fibreglass baby elephants painted and decorated by international artists and celebrities on display along Orchard Road, Fort Canning, S.A.M, Marina Bay, Singapore Zoo, Vivocity and the Botanic Gardens.
Here are some of the elephants on display at Vivocity - Kebaya by Pitakarn Pongwarut, Ele Fun-Asia by Ye Roushi, and Amazon by Thiti Suwan.
If you happen to spend at least $200 at Vivocity, you get to redeem a cute miniature elephant!
These elephants will eventually be auctioned off by Sotheby's. In the meantime, you can do your part in the conservation of these elephants, by bringing home a replica in miniature from the store outside Tangs Orchard, where 30% of the proceeds will go towards saving the elephants.
If you are interested in witnessing the process that gave these elephants their colorful hand-painted designs, you can catch a live demonstration by Sun Yu-Li at Paragon on the 18th and 19th November 2011, 2:30-5:30pm, and by Noriko Suzuki-Bosco on the 22nd to 24th November 2011, 11am-5pm.
And if you feel motivated enough to paint an elephant of your own after the demonstration, you can do so at The Kitchen @ Tangs, Vivocity on weekdays from 2-4pm, and weekends from 12-2pm and 4-6pm.
